What is Test Guild?

A testing guild is a term given to sessions where testers from different product / project teams gather at  the identical  time in one place and discuss their testing related learnings and new technologies.Every professional is continually working for enhancing their skill set  to stay  up with the new changes coming up in the form of new technologies and methodologies. For this purpose, an organisation should give  a chance  where people can learn and develop new skills.  one among  the widespread practices which is growing rapidly in various IT organisations is setting up a regular meeting among multiple teams and discuss new ideas and technologies. These meeting or gatherings are termed as Guilds.

A guild  may be a  group of people with similar interests which shares knowledge among them,  for instance , The tester Guild, Scrum Masters Guilds, etc. A primary goal of the guild is  to debate  new technologies, sharing experiences and building a network  of individuals  who can be in the same organisation or from outside.  during this  article, let’s  speak about  what is a testing guild.

A testing guild  may be a  term given to sessions where testers from different product / project teams gather at the same time in one place and discuss their testing related learnings and new technologies. These sessions  are often  held at one location or different location due to some factors like distance and time. The important point  to notice  here is testing guilds can also have developers, scrum masters or product owners.

Below are some benefits which management will get as an outcome from these sessions:

• These sessions will grow cross- team relationships between testers working  for various  teams.

•  people that  attend external testing guild sessions will eventually share the knowledge with internal teams which will help in enhancing skills.

The frequency of testing guild session  are often  once in a month, and  it's  not mandatory for all to attend the meeting. However, professionals  are often  asked for attend sessions as a trail and later if they found these interesting,  they're going to  willingly join these sessions.

The testing guild session will include members from several teams.  it's  always a good idea to give an opportunity to the new person to present the session — this way new concepts and ideas can be discussed. Also,  it'll  provide an opportunity for every guild member to share their knowledge and skills. Everyone  are going to be  contributing, like  just one occasion  a tester can present a testing technique and next time someone else can present about a product or application. This practice will  end in  a wide range of topics to be discussed, and if one presenter cannot make it on time, then another person can present  a replacement  concept.

Guild sessions  are often  arranged at local or distributed as now a day’s company’s works on multiple locations with different teams. Both  sorts of  arrangements have their advantages and disadvantages. Local guild sessions are easy  to rearrange ,  and other people  participate more actively which results in effective knowledge exchange. Whereas, distributed guild sessions have time and hardware dependencies.  founded  can be a challenge for distributed guild session but as multiple locations and people are involved, so ideas  and ideas  range grow. Eventually,  it'll  lead to the growth of the relationship between different teams.

Building a testing guild and arranging the meetings  may be a  continuous process. Here people can share knowledge, tools, code, and practices not only during sessions but through online portals  also , example: Yammer, LinkedIn, Google+ etc.  it'll  help in keeping the interest intact and sharing materials among themselves.

Testing guild sessions give  a chance  to learn more about other fields like development and products and vice versa. Guild meetings are all about sharing, exchanging expertise, and learning new things.. With the arrival  of latest  technologies like continuous integration and continuous delivery,  it's  always essential to know about development as the gap between testing and development is decreasing.

What is TSM tool?

IBM Tivoli Storage Manager (IBM TSM) is an enterprise class backup and archiving application. IBM TSM, like all enterprise backup software products,  is meant  to make copies of an organization's data to protect against data loss.

To start the server, complete  the subsequent  steps:

Change to the /opt/tivoli/tsm/server/bin directory from a Linux session. Enter: >cd /opt/tivoli/tsm/server/bin.
Start the server by entering: dsmserv Note: If the server  doesn't  start, set the ulimit parameter to unlimited.  for instance , ulimit -d unlimited.
What is TSM agent?

The storage devices are controlled by a Tivoli Storage Manager server, which acts as a library manager. This server is frequently the server that communicates with the storage agent or another Tivoli Storage Manager server in the enterprise. The Tivoli Storage Manager server monitors the metadata that the client has stored.
