An overview of Cross Browser Testing through LambdaTest tool

As there is a wide range of web browsers available users are using different web browsers to access their web applications, so it is very important to test applications on multiple browsers. On different browsers, components may behave differently. So just testing the web application only on one web browser is not enough. To make sure that our web application works fine across multiple browsers, we need to test it thoroughly on different browsers.

Cross Browser Testing is a process to test web applications across various browsers, operating systems, browser versions, and various devices. It involves testing the compatibility of any application to ensure that the web application works as expected across different web browsers. Cross-Browser testing involves both the client-side and server-side testing.

Basically, It is a type of testing that verifies if an application works across different browsers as expected and maintain consistent behavior throughout all different browsers. It is the process of testing your application's compatibility with several browsers.

Methods of Performing Cross Browser Testing:
There are two methods for performing Cross Browser Testing:

  •  Manual
  •  Automated

Manual Cross Browser Testing Method

In the manual method, Testers execute the same test cases on different browsers manually and observe the application’s behavior and report bugs if any.
In this form of testing, it is impossible to cover all browsers, and the application may not be tested on main browser versions.
Also, It is costly and time-consuming too.

Automated Cross Browser Testing

Basically, Cross-browser testing stands for running the same test cases multiple times on different browsers and operating systems. This can be easily done by automation. As a result, employing tools to perform this testing is less expensive and takes less time.

  • Through an automated method, we can perform various types of testing on different browsers like:
  • We can take screenshots of the pages and also links are submitted of how they appear in multiple browsers.
  • Multiple browsers are synchronised in terms of operations conducted on one, and the results are shown separately for each browser.
  • We can test the application on multiple screen resolutions.
  • We can record the bug in the form of a screenshot or video for further analysis.
  • Available for both mobile and desktop applications.

A lot of tools are available in the market to perform automation testing.
One such tool is the LambdaTest tool.

LambdaTest tool

LambdaTest is a cloud-based cross-browser testing tool through which users can perform automated & manual compatibility testing of any website or web app on various browsers, mobile devices and on different operating systems.

Users can run Selenium automation tests on a cloud-based Selenium grid and perform live interactive cross-browser testing of their public or locally hosted websites and web app on the cloud.

Key Features of LambdaTest Cross Browser Testing Tool:

  1.  Browser Compatibility Testing: We can perform browser compatibility testing on various desktop and mobile browsers, different browser versions, operating systems, and resolutions. Also, we can take screenshots on different browser versions.
  2.  Desktop Browser Testing: It has great collections of all the browsers like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, IE, Edge and Safari and different variety of operating systems.
  3.  Enables Testing on various Mobile Devices: It supports a wide list of iPhones, iPads on different iOs versions and Android phones like Samsung, Google, Sony, LG, One Plus, HTC, Amazon, Motorola, Xiaomi, Huawei, Gionee, Oppo, Vivo on latest Android versions and different browsers.
  4.  Screenshot testing: One can take full paged screenshots by selecting the configurations using the LambdaTest automated screenshots feature.
  5.  Testing Responsiveness on All Screen Sizes: One can check the responsiveness of any website by clicking across on different screen sizes.
  6.  Log issues: One can log issues and share those issues via email, bug tracking tools, etc.

We can integrate LambdaTest with the following bug tracking and communication tools:
